Adventures in vaping - Vaping in airports

There is a smoking area once you get past customs in Schipol, which is always a bonus for smokers, and plenty of places to smoke outside before you get through there.  I tried using my electronic cigarette outside of the accepted smoking zones and nobody cautioned me on it.  So, like you'd expect from the Dutch, they seem very e-cig friendly.

However, they're less tolerant of people who want to sleep here, it seems, as there is a sign saying that it is forbidden to sleep or even lie down in the airport.  You may want to avoid a long-haul flight here!

I was feeling brave by now, so I smoked my e-cigarette actually going through security.  I smoked it in the duty free, and I smoked it in Boots, Dixons, and whilst having a drink at the bar.

A few people looked at me, and wondered what I was doing, but nobody asked.  So it was a nice, stress-free wait - particularly when my plane was delayed!

Stockholm Skavsta is the most smoker-friendly airport I've been to this side of the millennium.  They have installed little smoke-free huts in the departure lounge, so you can enjoy a cigarette or an e-cigarette indoors once you are through passport control.

Interesting to note, there are none of these huts before you get flight side, so if you want a real cigarette before then, you will still have to go outside - but I smoked my e-cigs in there without any raised eyebrows.

Stockholm Skavsta is Ryanair's main hub into the city, and as they seem to be e-cigarette friendly too, it was the least stressful journey I have made in years.

In the South Terminal, vaped without question in the South Terminal, flight side and departures.  Also vaped in the J.D. Wetherspoons pub on the first floor of the South Terminal - with a vodka and redbull....   except it was some crappy energy drink called Monster, instead of Red Bull....
