Adventures in vaping - Vaping on trains

I'm about to embark on an 18 hour Delta flight - to be more precise, two 9 hour Delta flights in quick succession.

I've read various reports that say that Delta prohibit e-cigs... let's see what happens.  My plan involves stealth vaping at my seat with a blanket over my head - I've read a lot of reports lately that too much vapor in the bathrooms can set off an alarm, but worst case scenario, I'll be checking it out.

Apologies to any fellow passengers who's journey may be disrupted by my nicotine addiction!

Adventures in vaping - Vaping on planes

Flight from Bordeaux to Birmingham, flight from Birmingham to Bordeaux.  This was British Airways!  I was sure they'd slap my wrists, or something...

Being a relatively short flight, I didn't actually feel the need to vape.  I just felt I needed to vape for purposes of research.  So I vaped.  Once again, no one passed comment.  On the way back, there was a woman breastfeeding, who attracted more evil looks than I did with my cloud producing e-cigarette. Sure, I advocate smokers rights and all that, but I still think that taking my harmless enough nicotine fix was far worse than the poor woman who at least managed to keep her child quiet, unlike the other screaming brats.

People are strange, as the song goes...

Adventures in vaping - Vaping in airports

There is a smoking area once you get past customs in Schipol, which is always a bonus for smokers, and plenty of places to smoke outside before you get through there.  I tried using my electronic cigarette outside of the accepted smoking zones and nobody cautioned me on it.  So, like you'd expect from the Dutch, they seem very e-cig friendly.

However, they're less tolerant of people who want to sleep here, it seems, as there is a sign saying that it is forbidden to sleep or even lie down in the airport.  You may want to avoid a long-haul flight here!

Adventures in vaping - Vaping on planes

Just like Skavsta aiport in Stockholm, Stockholm Vasteras has an actual smoking area once through the security gates, so it's a no-stress journey - with the usual vaping on the RyanAir flight - through to London Stansted.  Oddly, just like Skavsta, there's no smoking area until you get through to security!  It was a beautiful day, so a pleasure to vape outside anyway - but I can't see anyone having any problems with their electronic cigarettes in this airport.

I was feeling brave by now, so I smoked my e-cigarette actually going through security.  I smoked it in the duty free, and I smoked it in Boots, Dixons, and whilst having a drink at the bar.

A few people looked at me, and wondered what I was doing, but nobody asked.  So it was a nice, stress-free wait - particularly when my plane was delayed!
